On May 16, starting at 2:00 PM, the School of International Law / School of School of International Law CUPL held a faculty seminar in Conference Room B215 on the second floor of the school building. The seminar featured Professor Ivan Cardillo, an expert under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security Foreign Expert Program, as the distinguished guest speaker. Professor Cardillo delivered an insightful academic presentation on the theme "Comparative Law in Complex Geopolitical Times: Methodological Challenges and Perspectives." Dean Li Juqian and several faculty members of the School participated in the seminar.
The event commenced with an opening address by Dean Li Juqian, who extended a warm welcome to Professor Ivan. Professor Ivan then began his presentation by tracing the historical development of comparative law, systematically outlining its evolution from the Enlightenment to the present day, with a particular focus on issues of legal translation and cultural differences.


During the commentary session, Dean Li Juqian emphasized the importance of affirming one's own value while respecting the differences of others in the exchange of legal civilizations, seeking to construct shared values. In the interactive session, faculty representatives including Huang Pengbei, Yu Li, Xu Zhuangsi, and Dong Jingbo engaged in lively discussions with Professor Ivan on topics such as comparative law theory, global governance, and China-Europe investment.
