On May 30th, the Forum on Cultivating Foreign-Related Legal Talents and the Unveiling Ceremony for the School of Foreign-Related Rule of Law CUPL were held in the Academic Lecture Hall of the Scientific Research Building at the Haidian Campus of China University of Political Science and Law. Attendees included Ma Huaide, President of China University of Political Science and Law; Yi Xianliang, former Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador to Norway and Sri Lanka; Li Ming, Executive Vice President of the Chinese Society of International Law; Jiang Lili, Arbitrator and Secretary-General of the Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Court; and Jia Shen, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO). The event also brought together over 120 representatives from peer institutions, legal practice sectors, as well as faculty and student representatives of the university.


In his speech, Ma Huaide outlined a series of new initiatives recently implemented by the university to cultivate foreign-related legal talents.

Yi Xianliang emphasized that cultivating foreign-related legal talents is a crucial measure to protect China’s overseas interests, particularly the security of global operations of Chinese institutions.

Li Ming stressed that "acting in accordance with the law" is a fundamental principle.

Jiang Lili highlighted the pivotal role of talent in enhancing the country’s voice in international governance.

Jia Shen noted that the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents is now facing new opportunities and should align with the nation’s strategic needs.

Yi Xianliang and Ma Huaide jointly unveiled the plaque for the " School of Foreign-Related Rule of Law China University of Political Science and Law."

Following the unveiling ceremony, Liu Yanhong, Vice President of the university, announced the list of members for the newly established Practice Teaching Guidance Committee. President Ma Huaide presented certificates to representatives, including Wang Jilian, Deputy Director of the committee and Chief Legal Counsel of China Academy of Space Technology.
The Forum on Cultivating Foreign-Related Legal Talents was divided into three sessions, focusing on "Goals and Standards for Cultivating Foreign-Related Legal Talents," "Characteristics and Methods for Cultivating Foreign-Related Legal Talents," and "Capability Development and Practice of Foreign-Related Legal Talents," respectively.

The establishment of the School of Foreign-Related Rule of Law at China University of Political Science and Law marks a new phase of organized and systematic development in meeting national needs and accelerating the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents.
