On the afternoon of June 17th, 2025, the 137th session of the "International Law Lecture Hall" Chinese series, organized by School of International Law CUPL / School of Foreign-Related Rule of Law CUPL, was held in Room 0111 of the Teaching and Library Comprehensive Building at the Haidian Campus. The lecture invited Professor Gao Zhiguo, former Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, former President of the Chinese Society for the Law of the Sea, and the expert member of the China International Commercial Court of the Supreme People's Court, as the keynote speaker. He provided an in-depth analysis on the topic of "Theory and Practice of International Mediation.

In the opening remark, Professor Li Juqian pointed out that in the face of the frequent global conflicts, traditional dispute resolution mechanisms are facing severe challenges, while international mediation demonstrates unique value with its flexible approach to dispute resolution. Professor Gao Zhiguo systematically elaborated on the core themes from three dimensions: theoretical foundations, institutional innovation, and Chinese practice. During the interactive session, faculty and students engaged in in-depth exchanges on practical challenges. In his concluding remarks, Professor Li Juqian summarized that Professor Gao Zhiguo, an outstanding alumnus of CUPL, possesses extensive experience in international judicial practice and profound theoretical expertise. This lecture not only provided a deep deconstruction of international dispute resolution mechanisms but also served as a vivid case study of China's participation in the formulation of global governance rules.
